The National Scorecard is a flagship initiative of Century Initiative, designed to track and evaluate Canada’s progress toward fostering a sustainable and prosperous future. Sandbox created this custom-built, interactive tool to serve as a visual representation of critical data, offering an accessible overview of the nation’s performance across key areas integral to achieving a population of 100 million by 2100. Complementing this innovative interface, Sandbox created a fully accessible version of the Scorecard, ensuring inclusivity for users with diverse needs.

Developed through a rigorous design process, the Scorecard integrates animations, infographics, and dynamic web design to present complex information in an engaging, user-friendly format. At its core, it evaluates five domains critical to national growth: early childhood supports, education, employment and entrepreneurship, urban development and infrastructure, and immigration. Each domain is broken down into measurable metrics with a grading system (falling behind, needs attention, on track, leading), providing a clear and actionable framework for understanding Canada’s progress.

This unique visual tool has become an invaluable resource for policymakers, researchers, and the public, sparking informed discussions about Canada’s socio-economic priorities. Its accessible presentation of data ensures that complex research findings resonate with diverse audiences. As a cornerstone of Century Initiative’s advocacy efforts, the Scorecard has heightened awareness of key policy areas, inspiring evidence-based decision-making and national discourse on long-term growth. As life in Canada continues to evolve, so too does the Scorecard itself – Sandbox created an accompanying report that examines the evolution of the scorecard over the past four years as we reflect on important changes in all aspects of Canada’s progress to a bolder future.
